2009 OBITUARIES

Howard Kent Sartor
Howard Kent Sartor of Salado passed away Oct 1, 2009. A memorial service was held at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton on Friday, Oct 9 at 4 pm. "H.K.", as he was nicknamed, was the son of Rachel & Howard Sartor of Bartlett. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Vicki by merely months. The eldest of three boys, HK, Steve, and Stanley enjoyed a beautiful country life in Bartlett and surrounding areas. HK was born on Sept 8, 1936. After the completion of 3 degrees, he worked for Shell Oil in the production engineering department. Then he dedicated 20 years of his life to teaching. He also started his own investment real estate enterprise. He received 2 statwide teaching awards and an additional national certificate for his dedication to deprived children.
Mr Sartor formed a family real estate corporation including his wife Vicky and son H. R. The were founding advisory board members of "Baby Charlie's Fishing Camp" which grew into Peaceable Kingdom Retreat for Children. Today the retreat serves approximately 6,000 special needs and chronically ill children annually. Howard Kent Sartor is survived by his son, H.R. Sartor, and many friends and relatives



Albina Agnes Pajestka, 85, of Georgetown and formerly of Austin, passed away Saturday Oct 3, 2009 in a Georgetown nursing home. She was born Nov 23, 1924, the daughter of Karel & Emilie (Nemec) Pajestka in Holland, Texas. Never married, Albina was an in-home caregiver in Austin for over 60 years. She was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church in Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Joe Pajestka; and a sister, Cecilia Pavlat. Albina is survived by two sisters, Emilie Betty Jarolik and Rosie Pavlat; two brothers, Charlie Pajestka and wife Blanche, and Frank Pajestka and wife Helen, all of Holland; also several nieces and nephews. Rosary was 7:00 PM Mnday Oct 5 at Goodnight Funeral Home in Bartlett. Funeral services were Tuesday Oct 6 at 2 PM at Goodnight Funeral Home with Deacon Johnny Thorton officiating. Burial followed in Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger.


Ralph Kennard Nixon, born on July 14, 1954 in Temple, Texas, went to his eternal rest on August 11, 2009.  Ralph was a native of Bartlett, Texas and attended Bartlett public schools, moving to Austin with his family in 1969.  He was a 1972 graduate of Lanier High School and the owner of Ralph's Sewer and Drain.  Ralph loved duck hunting --especially with his dog Lovey.Ralph is survived by a loving family: a daughter Amanda Nixon of Austin, former wife Brenda Riske Nixon, his parents Ruben and Virginia Nixon of Austin, a sister Nancy Nixon Kelly and brother-in-law Carl Kelly and a nephew Clayton Kelly.  Ralph dedicated his life to Jesus at a young age so he will be greeted in heaven by his grandparents Ralph and Glyn Messer Jackson, Will and Julia Nixon and a host of other cousins and aunts and uncles whom he loved and who loved him. Special thanks to the loving and skilled doctors and nurses at Seton Hospital who cared for Ralph during his illness. Visitation will be Thursday, August 13, 2009 from 6 to 8 pm, at Austin Peel & Son with graveside services in the Bartlett City Cemetery Friday, August 14, at 10 am.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bartlett Activities Center for the restoration of the Bartlett Grammar School
Trudy Lee Pease
Trudy Lee Pease of Bartlett, age 60, died July 28 in a Temple hospital. Trudy Lee Pease was born in Los Angelos, Calif on Aug 7, 1948 to Gerald & Leeora (Sanders) Feelo. She married James Pease in Lake Tahoe, Calif on Jun 19, 1969. They had lived in Bartlett for 27 years. She is survived by her mother, Leeora; her husband, James of Bartlett; two daughters, Cynthia Pease of Round Rock and Geri Ann Lewis of Emporium, Pennsylvania; and 2 grandchildren. A celebration of her life was held Aug 3 at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home by Tiffany Dana, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Bartlett. Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple was in charge of arrangements.

Daniel Paul Balusek
Daniel Paul Balusek, 77, of Holland passed away July 24, 2009. Services were held Monday July 27 at Goodnight Funeral Chapel in Bartlett with Dr. Mark Labaj officiating. Burial was in Holland Cemetery.
Daniel Balusek was born Oct 5, 1931 to Henry George Balusek and Emilie Roznovak Balusek. He was a member of Holland Brethren Church and was baptized Oct 27, 1931 and confirmed Dec 29, 1946. His sponsors were William and Julie Dusek. Dan was married at the age of 58 to his beloved wife, Martha Hopson, and welcomed his extended family of Douglas, Gary, Carl and James Hopson, and Margaret Cervenka and Sheila Juranek. Dan was a very kind and gentle man and loved his home and farming. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha; his parents and loving stepmother, Millie Shimek Balusek; brother, Robert Balusek; sisters Doris Janke and Evelyn Spann; and stepchildren Rita Selby and Donald Hopson. Survivors include his sisters, Mary Lange and husband Clarence of Caldwell, and Val Hegar and husband Bob of Thorndale; stepchildren and their children; special cousins Raymond Balusek and wife Johnnie of Burleson, and Edwin Balusek of Holland; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Larry Janke Jr, Todd Janke, Rick Lange, Dewayne Balusek, Robert Hegar and Gordon Beatty.  Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Balusek, Edwin Balusek, Steve Hegar, Justin Hegar, Preston Hegar, Gabbo Goetsch, Ray Schoener, Norman Schoener, Tom Westerberg and Mark Karl.  Goodnight Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lillie L Martinets
Lillie L Martinets, 88, formerly of Holland, died at 10:30 AM Sunday July 19 at Pflugerville nursing center. Lillie was born on Oct 28, 1920 at Beyersville, Texas, the third of ten children born to Joseph F and Rosie Simcik Smensky. She was baptized and confirmed at Taylor Brethren Church and attended Beyersville School. As a young woman, she worked at the Taylor High School Cafeteria, the Taylor Pecan Factory, and Taylor Bedding & Manufacturing Company. She married Clifton M Martinets on March 11, 1944 at Granger Brethren Church. They farmed for several years, first at Hackberry (near Holland) and later near Schwertner, where their two children were born. In 1959, the family moved to Holland, where Clifton operated Clifton's Place, a popular bar and domino hall. Lillie was a homemaker and also worked for many years as cook at the Holland School Cafeteria. She was an excellent seamstress, gardener, and cook, and was especially known for her tasty Czech kolaches. Lillie was a long-time member of the Holland Brethren Church, and SPJST Lodge No 80 in Holland. Lillie was preceded in death by her father Joseph in 1957, mother Rosie in 1978, and husband Clifton in 1981, and sister Angeline Hobbs of Temple on May 28, 2009.  She is survived by her two children: son Allen (and wife Joyce) Martinets, and daughter Karen (and husband Roy) Mills, all of Austin; one granddaughter, Amy Good (and Wade Winnett) of Pflugerville; 3 grandsons, Ryan (and wife Leighann) Martinets of Pasadena, Andrew (and wife Rachel) Mills of Austin, and David Mills of Austin. She is also survived by two brothers, Joe B Smensky of Beyersville, and Edmond Smensky of Austin; six sisters, Bertha Christianson, Elsie Mucha, Albina (and husbandMartin) Kerlin, all of Taylor; Agnes (and husband Jack) Eschberger of Coupland, Martha (and husband Clarence) Minzenmayer of Temple, and Jane (and husband Bill) Griffin of Salado; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Lillie was a modest, kind and gentle woman who will be missed by her many friends, neighbors, and relatives. Funeral services were Friday July 24 at Goodnight Funeral Chapel in Bartlett, with burial following at Holland City Cemetery. Lillie's cousin, Rev Frank Simcik of Temple, officiated.

William Melvin Davis Jr 
Services for William Melvin Davis Jr, 61, of Dallas were held July 2 at Holy Temple Church of God in Christ in Bartlett. Burial was in Bartlett City Cemetry. He died Sunday, June 27, 2009.
William Melvin Davis Jr was born in Bartlett October 25, 1947 to William Melvin & Ollie Davis. He attended Booker T Washington and Bartlett High School. Mr Davis was active in sports and scored the winning extra point at the 1964 Booker T Washington Panthers Class A State Championship. He also played semi-pro football for the Dallas Rockets. Mr Davis attended Texas State Technical College in Waco and became  certified as a master mechanic. He lived in Dallas for more than 35 years and was most recently employed at Auto Zone. Mr Davis was a member of Eighth Street Baptist Church in Temple. Survivors include his mother of Temple; two sons, Melvin Collin of Irving, and Travis Smith of Dallas; five daughters, Lisa Harrington of St Louis, Melissa Griffin, Megena Henderson, and Carla Hayes, all of Temple, and Monique Alexander of Dallas; five brothers, Jesse Davis of Lake Jackson, Herbert Davis of Temple, Earnest Davis and Stacy Davis, both of Rowlett, and Kenneth Davis of Arlington; and six sisters, Eula Jones, Maureen Brown, Angelica Davis and Patricia Green, all of Temple, Florene Cunningham of Arlington, and Pamela Davis of Killeen. Bradford/Dawson Funeral Home in Temple was in charge of arrangements.

Vicky Jo Sartor
Vicky Jo Sartor of Salado died on April 25, 2009 in a Temple hospital. She was born Jan 5, 1954.  Known and loved throughout her community, Vicky dedicated her life to the service of others. She was an outstanding mother, wife and friend. She luminously dedicated her last twenty years of life to the Salado United Methodist Church, serving as Program Director and Minister of Children. Vicky was a devout Christian and a spiritual counselor, lending her radiant energy in every endeavor. Vicky served on the Advisory Board of the Peaceable Kingdom Retreat for Children and assisted with the first fundraisers for the organization. She also served Salado ISD as an officer of the Salado Parents and Teachers. While she shared her giving heart with this community, her greatest love was for her family. Vicky was the wife of H.K. Sartor and the mother of H.R. Sartor. After graduating from high school in Bartlett, Vicky studied at area universities. She married H.K. Sartor on June 2, 1978. Her precious son, Howard Robert (H.R) was born on Christmas Day, 1979. She is survived by her husband, Howard Kent Sartor; her son, Howard Robert Sartor; her parents, Robert & Evelyn Powitzky; her sister, Janie David; and her aunt, Dorothy Jean Bartlett. A memorial service was held May 1 at the Salado Methodist Church, with arrangments by Dossman Funeral Home of Belton.

Willis Malcom Jones
Willis Malcom Jones, 87, longtime resident of Bartlett and formerly of Houston went to Heaven on Wed March 18, 2009 in a Georgetown nursing home. He was born April 12, 1921 the son of William N and Betty Rozela (Grigsby) Jones. On June 5, 1948 he married Melba Hunt who preceded him in death in March 2007. Willis was a commercial painter and worked for Lubrizol Corp in Houston for 25 years. On retiring in 1982, he returned to the family farm in Bartlett. Willis was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving the US Army 4th Infantry/36th Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and two Purple Hearts for his action. Willis was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Melba Hunt Jones of 57 years; two brothers, Woodrow W Jones and W H Jones; and two sisters, Betty Banks and Opal Wages. Willis is survived by his daughter, Rita Jones of Georgetown; granddaughter, Kim Colvin of Georgetown; step-grandchildren Bobby Morgan and Kirstie Morgan, both of Georgetown; a brother, George T Jones of Wimberley; two sisters Hazel Barrett of Overton and Erma Wasek of Brazoria; sister-in-law, Jane Simmons and husband Richard of LaPort; brother-in-law Ivey Dean Hunt of Flatonia; and many nieces and nephews. Services were held Sat March 21 at 11 AM at Goodnight Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tommy Rosenblad officiating. Burial was in Davilla Cemetery.

Emma Ella Nixon Green
Emma Ella Nixon Green, longtime resident of Houston, went to be with her Lord and Savior January 5, 2009. Ella was born May 27, 1920 in Bartlett, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband James E. Green Sr.; and parents Willie and Julia Keith Nixon, a sister Oleta Nixon Hardy, and brothers Wendell Nixon, Albert Nixon, Clifton Nixon and Benson Nixon, all of Bartlett. Ella is survived by her brother: Ruben Nixon of Austin; her daughters: Julia Montgomery and husband Robert, Suellen Plachy and husband Richard; son: James Green Jr. and wife Patricia; grandchildren: Rob Montgomery and wife Winona, Mary Ellen Miller and husband Dean, Leslie Hines and husband Travis, Jonathan Montgomery and wife Melissa, James Montgomery, Chris Green and wife Kathy, Wes Green, Amber Collins and husband Ethan, Denver Plachy and wife Jillian, Hudson Plachy and wife Abby, Ellie Bakk and husband Jeremiah, and Preston Plachy; great grandchildren: Arthur and Everett Montgomery, Corwin, Duncan and Clary Miller, Jesse, Georgia, Lucy and Julia Hines, Dawson Colin and Landon Montgomery, Kieran Montgomery, Rachel, Brooke and Sean Green, Emmett and Ava Collins, Caroline Plachy, and Josie Joy Bakk. Ella with her husband Jimmie raised their family in North Houston where she was a member of Oakwood Methodist Church. They retired to LaMarque, and moved to Tomball in their later years to be near their children. Her home was always open and showing hospitality to others was Ella's greatest joy. Visitation 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday Jan 8 at Klein Funeral Home, Tomball. Funeral services were 10:00 AM Friday Jan 9 at Klein Funeral Chapel, Tomball, with Dr. Victor Taylor officiating. The interment followed 3:00 PM Friday Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas.

Daniel H Kallus
Funeral services for Daniel H Kallus, 72, of Holland were held Saturday Dec 20, 2008 at Dossman Funeral Home with Father Tom Chamberlain and Pastor Mike Swink officiating. Burial followed in Lawler Cemetery near Florence. Mr Kallus died Dec 18 in a Temple nursing home. A rosary was recited Dec 19 at Dossman Funeral Home. Mr Kallus was born August 10, 1936 in Holland, the son of I J Kallus and Mary (Huff) Kallus. He married Tempie Stiles on June 19, 1960 at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger. Mr Kallus worked for 25 years at Griggs Equipment Company, later retiring from Artco-Bell. He served as the Assistant Fire Chief and the Fire Marshall in Holland. He served as a city councilman in Holland as well. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Tempie Kallus of Holland; two sons, Dan Kallus and wife Kim of Zabcikville, and Johnny Kallus and wife Sherry of Holland; one daughter, Tempie Labaj and husband John of Granger; one brother, Ted Kallus of Georgetown; one sister, Mary Jacobson of Round Rock; 6 grandchildren, Kirby Dawson, Krystal Dawson, Ryan Kallus, Tyler Kallus, Dylan Kallus and Amy Labaj; and 1 great-grandson, Ty Dawson.

Georgia K Pacha Grossman
Services for Georgia K. Pacha Grossman, 80, of Holland will be Monday, December 1, 2008 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Father Don Loftin officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, November 30, 2008 from 5 to 7 p.m., with rosary recited at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Georgia Grossman was born in Granger to Joseph F. and Julia Tomacek Kaderka on March 13, 1928. She was a member of the Holland SPJST, KJZT and was the first lady elected to the Holland City Council, where she served as mayor pro tem. Mrs. Grossman was recognized in Who's Who Among American Women. She was preceded in death by her spouses, Bill I. Pacha and Daniel Grossman; and one great-granddaughter. Survivors include a son, Bill Pacha of Holland; daughters, Georganna Gommert and Keisha Moore, both of Holland; a sister, Betty Stojanik of Granger; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Leona S Hester
Mrs. Leona Shiplett Hester, 92, of Holland died Wednesday, November 12, 2008 in a Temple nursing home. Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Academy First Baptist Church with the Rev. Brent Boatwright and Rev. Laine Teel officiating. Burial followed in Reeds Lake Cemetery. Leona Hester was born July 2, 1916 to William Blane and Ada Mink Shiplet in Kentucky. She was a Temple High School graduate and was a retired homemaker. Mrs. Hester was a member of the Academy First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. J. Hester, on January 6, 1988. Survivors include her son, James W. Hester of Sebring, Florida; a daughter, Dolores Underwood of Holland; two brothers, Delona Shiplett of Waco and Frances Shiplett of Holland; a sister, Ann Caviness of Navasota; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple was in charge of arrangements.

Cecil F Montgomery
Cecil Fowler Montgomery, 87, longtime resident of Bartlett, Tx passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2008 in Will-O-Bell Nursing Home. Services were held Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Bartlett with the Rev. Leanne Turner officiating. Burial followed in the Bartlett City Cemetery. Cecil Montgomery was born January 31, 1921 to Walter Lee and Mary Ola (Speegle) Montgomery in Bartlett, Texas. On August 20, 1946 he married Minnie Calhoun, who preceded him in death in April 1983. Cecil worked as an instrument technician for Mobil Oil Co. for more than 32 years. He was a veteran of WWII, serving as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. Cecil was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Legion, a Life member of the 36th Infantry Association and the Bartlett Activity Center (BAC). He was also preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers. Cecil is survived by his son, Wayne Montgomery and wife Rosmira of Richmond; daughter, Mary Shoemaker of San Antonio; two grandchildren, Laura Cross and Matthew Montgomery; brother, Wallace D. Montgomery of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.

Irene Belle Pope Clement
Funeral services for Irene Belle Pope Clement, 93, of Bartlett were held Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church of Bartlett. Burial followed at the Bartlett Cemetery. She died Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Will-O-Bell Nursing Home. Irene Belle Pope Clement was born December 16, 1914 in Granger to Hattie “Blue Eyes” Tegge and Grover Cleveland Pope. After attending Circleville School, she graduated from Taylor High School in 1931. Working her way through college by teaching school and piano, Irene attended Mary Hardin Baylor College and graduated from Southwestern University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Piano and Voice in 1941. She was a member of the honor society Delta Kappa Gamma and Easter Star. Mary began teaching in Lawrence Chapel School in 1937 and then taught at Circleville School for two years before starting her career at Granger in 1941, teaching high school music and English and, finally, fourth grade in the elementary school. At Granger ISD she met and later married the Ag teacher, Everett D. Clement, on July 31, 1943. Irene and Everett taught at Granger for about 40 years. Irene was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and served as the organist for both First Methodist Church of Granger and First Methodist Church of Bartlett for over 40 years. After moving to their farm in Bartlett, she also became the choir director of the Bartlett church, serving there for about 17 years. She was preceded in death by her older brother, G. C. “Buck” Pope. Survivors include her husbasnd of 65 years, Everett D. Clement; three daughters, Beverly Clement of College Station, Marilyn Clement and husband Charles McLemore of College Station and Katherine Clement and husband Mac Puckett of Lake Jackson; two brothers, Jim Pope and wife Mary Ann of Holland and Ft. Worth and Dick Pope and wife Betty of Granger; and three granddaughters, Kelly McLemore of Austin and Lauren Puckett and Regan Puckett, both of Lake Jackson. Goodnight Funeral Home of Bartlett was in charge of arrangements.

Ernest A Fischer
Ernest A. Fischer, 71, of Bartlett, Texas passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008 in Temple. Ernest Fischer was born October 12, 1936 in Buckholts to Alma (Fuchs) Fischer and Adolph A. Fischer. He married Rita (Hill) Fischer on October 26, 1957. After living in Austin to attend business school, Rita and Ernie returned to Bartlett in 1961, where he operated 6-10 Drive-In Grocery and they started their family. In 1974 Ernie became the manager of C.F. Hill Grain Company until his retirement in 1996. Despite the long hours he devoted as manager, he continued to pursue his passion for farming and ranching, which he continued until the end. Ernie was a devout Lutheran and a dedicated member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bartlett, where he served the congregation in many capacities. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and one sister, Darlene Stolle. Ernie is survived by his three sons, James Fischer and wife Rosalind of Holland, Gary Fischer and wife Karen of Round Rock and Jon Fischer and wife, Dawn of Coupland; a daughter, Gina Laughlin and husband David of Louisville, Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; and a brother, Glen Fischer and wife Sandy of Buckholts. Ernie was laid to rest on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Bartlett.

Oldrich F Krejci
Oldrich Frank Krejci of Holland was carried on angel’s wings to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the age of 81. Rosary was at Goodnight Funeral Home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2008. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Corn Hill. Interment was in Holy Trinity Cemetery. He died Saturday, August 30, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Krejci was born September 30, 1926 in Granger to Frank and Julie Zrubek Krejci. At the age of three he moved to Corn Hill and lived there until 1954. He married Bettie Louise Thomas of Sparks. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Bettie Krejci, of Holland; one son, James Oldrich Krejci of Holland; two daughters, Patricia Hatten of Holland and Martha Raley of Salado; three granddaughters and two grandsons; one brother, Emil Krejci of Schwertner; and a sister, Dorothy Skrhak of Thrall. Pallbearers were Billy Beyer, Louis Danek, Paul Kreinheder, Raymond Danek and Billy Meissner. Goodnight Funeral Home of Bartlett was in charge of arrangements.

Karen P Roasa
A Mass of Christian burial for Karen Pekar Roasa, 56, of Sparks was held Saturday Aug 30 at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger with Rev. Bryan Eilers and Rev. Joseph Nisari officiating. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery in Granger. Mrs. Roasa died Wed Aug 27, at her home. She was born Feb 15, 1952 to Ted & Lydia Jezisek Pekar in Taylor. She was a longtime resident of the Sparks Community. She married Mike Roasa on Nov 25, 1976. She was a high school guidance counselor with more than 32 years off service with Holland ISD and the Bartlett ISD. She was a member of SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church; "Aggie's Mom", Kappa Delta Gamma Honor Society, Catholic Youth, CCD for SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Holland and Bartlett, and a 4-H exchange sponsor. Survivors include her husband of 31 years of Sparks; a son, Dr. Lance Roasa of Gilbert, Arizona; a daughter, Lane Roasa of College Station; three brothers, Terry Pekar, James Pekar and Leonard Pekar, all of Granger; a sister, Gladys Pekar of Mason; and her parents of Granger.

Wilferd Kurtz
Services for Wilferd, “W. L.” Kurtz, 90, of Holland were at 11 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2008 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bartlett with the Rev. Michael Swink officiating. Burial followed in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Mr. Kurtz died Friday, August 8, 2008 in a Temple hospital. Wilferd Kurtz was born June 12, 1918 to William and Adale Friedrich Kurtz in Holland. He married Gladys H. Chollett on June 1, 1941 in Burlington. Mr. Kurtz was a life-long resident of Holland, where he managed his farming and ranching operation. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Gladys Chollett Kurtz; five sons, Weldon Kurtz and wife Cedalia, Harold Kurtz and wife Joan and Lloyd Kurtz and wife Peggy, all of Holland, Elton Ramthun and wife Pat of Gatesville and Darrell Kurtz and wife Sheila of Pearsall; a daughter, Patsy Cross and husband Randy of Temple; a brother, Melvin Kurtz of Bryan; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Florene Rohde
Services for Florene Annie Rohde, 88, of Holland were at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor with the Rev. Michael Swink officiating. Burial followed a CookWalden Capital Memorial Park Cemetery in Pflugerville. She died Wednesday, July 23, 2008 in a Bartlett nursing home. Florene Annie Rohde was born November 2, 1919 to Willie Fred Kaatz and Friedarike Sophie Limmer in Clarendon. She worked as custodian at the University of Texas for many years. In 1982, she married Harold Rohde. Mrs. Rohde was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bartlett, SPJST Lodge, Women’s Auxiliary and Senior Citizens of Holland. Mrs. Rohde worked at the Holland School lunch cafeteria for several years. She really loved being around all the children. Mrs. Rohde was a loving grandmother and loved to work in her garden and flower beds, as well as just being outside. she loved going camping, no matter where the camp was. She worked hard all her life. In addition, the worked at the Holland SPJST, making hamburgers and visiting with the people who came to play bingo. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Monroe Rohlack Sr.; her second husband, Harold Rohde; a son, Monroe Rohlack Jr.; a daughter, Patricia Rohlack Fuller; and a granddaughter, Heather Rohlack. Survivors include three granddaughters, Daffney Pajestka, Deanna Mickelson and Jessica Rohlack; and three great-grandchildren, Derek Mickelson, Samantha Pajestka and Timothy Pajestka.

Darrell Gommert
Services for Darrell L. Gommert, 63, of Holland was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple with the Rev. Wayne Spinn officiating. Burial followed in Holland Cemetery. He died Saturday, July 12, 2008 in a local hospital. Darrell Gommert was born November 11, 1944 to Walter Frank and Lorene Folschinsky Gommert in Holland. He owned and operated Gommert’s Cafe in Holland for more than 30 years, retiring in 2001. Survivors include three brothers, Jimmy Gommert, Jay Don Gommert and Ronnie Gommert, all of Holland; and two sisters, Dr. Billye Weaver of Temple and Donna Mihatsch of Kerrville.

E A Limmer
Services for E. A. Limmer, 88, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Christ Episcopal Church in Temple with the Rev. David Alwine officiating. Burial was in Bellwood Memorial Park. He died Thursday, July 10, 2008. E. A. Limmer was born February 6, 1920 in Alligator, five miles east of Bartlett, to Early Alva and Annie Mae Messer Limmer Sr. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1937 and from Texas State University in San Marcos in 1941. Mr. Limmer married Theresa Del Cont in Welch, West Virginia on June 9, 1954. After working for Shell Oil for 38 years, as a financial assistant in Houston for 30 years and for eight years in the oilfields of West Texas and New Mexico, he retired to his home in Bell County in 1983. Mr. Limmer was important in the renovation of the 1904 Belton Carnegie Library building, helping to raise $300,000 to restore the building, now home to the Bell County Museum. He served on the boards of Tablerock, the Salado Historical Society, Bartlett Activity Center Ince., the Central Texas Orchestral Society and the Bell County Museum. He restored the 1895 Messer-Limmer farmhouse, a record Texas Historial Landmark, which he donated to the Texas Early Day Tractor and Engine Association. In addition, Mr. Limmer was president of the Heart of Texas Chapter Sons of the American Revolution, the Edward Kellum Chapter of the Society of the War of 1912 and of the George W. Tyler Chapter of the Sons of the Republic of Texas. He was also a member in the Jamestown Society, Order of the Crown of Charlemagne, Magna Carta Barons, Plantangenet Society, Texas Society of Colonial Wars, Knights of the Garter and Friends of St. George’s Chapel, Windsor, England. Mr. Limmer is especially remembered as editor-in-chief of the seminal two-volume, 1,110-page “The Story of Bell County,” published by the Bell County Historical Commission in 1988. He wrote a lot about the history of the Bartlett area, as well as historical markers in the county, especially the southeastern part. He collected many Texana artifacts, and later donated many items from his collection to the Bell County Museum. In 1991, the Texas House of Representatives recognized his preservation efforts, designating him “ a living cultural and historical resource because of his time and talents to advance the cultural and historical enrichment of Bell County and his contribution to the heritage of Texas.” Mr. Limmer received awards, including the Texas Society Sons of the American Revolution Silver Service Medal and Betty Martin Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution Community Service Award. Frank L Parmer
Funeral services for Frank L. Parmer, 67, of Holland were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2009 at Dossman Funeral Home Chapel in Belton with the Rev. Victor Pena officiating. Burial followed at the Holland Cemetery. He died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at his home. Frank Parmer was born October 12, 1940 in Florence, the son of Herbert and Frances Parmer. He attended Salado High School and married Patsy Cooper December 18, 1965 in Holland. Mr. Parmer served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from Bell County Road and Bridge in 2003. Mr. Parmer was a member of the American Legion and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holland. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Parmer of Holland; two sons, Brad Parmer of Holland and Chad Parmer of Belton; one daughter, Melay Cearley of Holland; one brother, Lynn Parmer of Alabama; and six grandchildren.

John Henry Sumbera
John Henry Sumbera, long-time resident of Roberts Road in Holland, died peacefully June 5, 2008 in Will-O-Bell nursing home at the age of 92. He was the dearly loved father of Frances (Michael Kulchisky) of Austin, Fred of Chappell Hill, and Jane (Patrick Martin) of Montreal, Canada, and grandfather of Jennifer and Nicholas Martin. Survivors include his sisters Alice Lee of Temple, Mary Parkhill of Holland and Celestine Haschke of Cleburne, and their families. He was predeceased by his wife Catherine and brothers, William and Joe. “Johnny” Sumbera was born in Holland in 1916 to Czech pioneers Annie and John Sumbera, Sr. and raised on a small farm on the street that now bears the family name. He graduated from Holland High School, spent the War years in the Army Signal Corps and returned to establish with partner Benny Muelhause a local plant that manufactured wooden stepladders and later wood veneer. He later moved with his young family to the Gulf Coast, where he had a long career with Union Carbide, returning to Holland in 1991. John had a lifelong interest in radio and electronics and was among the state’s earliest licensed amateur radio operators. He was a remarkable man of integrity and quiet strength, with a playful sense of humor, who will forever be missed by his family and friends. John Sumbera was buried with military honors at a graveside service scheduled Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Holland City Cemetary.

Nathaniel Lemons
Nathaniel Lemons, 57, of Davilla died April 15, 2008 in California. No services are planned. Mr. Lemons was born April 4, 1951 in Davilla to Wadie Lemons and Katherine Roberts Lemons. He graduated from Davilla High School and was a laborer. Daniel Lee Grossman
Funeral services for Daniel Lee Grossman, age 65 of Holland, were held on Monday, April 21, 2008 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Salado at 10:00 a.m., Father Charles Davis officiating. Rosary services were held at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, 2008. Daniel passed away in his home on Friday, April 18, 2008 after suffering a long battle with osteosarcoma and chondrosarcoma cancers. Daniel was born on July 10, 1942 in Taylor to Rudolph and Julia Kasparek Grossman of Granger. He married Georgia Kaderka Pacha on September 19, 1967. He worked in maintenance at Stagecoach Inn in Salado until his illness caused him to retire in 2007. Mr. Grossman was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Salado, the Holland SPJST and the Holland Volunteer Fire Department. He is preceded in death by his parents and one great grand-daughter, Courtney Denise Gommert. Survivors are his wife, Georgia Pacha Grossman; two daughters, Keisha Grossman Moore and husband James of Richland Springs and Georgana Pacha Gommert and husband Ronnie of Holland; one son, Bill J. Edmund Barabas was born April 16, 1916 in Bell County, Texas to Joseph Barabas and Augusta Kunz Barabas. He married Tillie E. Jarolik on October 14, 1940. Mr. Barabas was a retired farmer and had lived his entire life in Bartlett. He was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger and SPJST Lodge #80 in Holland. He was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters. Survivors include his wife, Tillie Barabas of Bartlett; one daughter, Barbara Voight and husband John of Bartlett; two grandchildren, Mandi Newby and and husband Paul of Bartlett and Ryan Voight; and three great-grandchildren, Chance Newby, Dillon Newby and Trenton Newby. Dessie Mae Loving

Burial was in Bartlett City Cemetery. She died Sunday March 2 at her home. Dessie Mae Loving was born March 19, 1926 in Bartlett to Sam Allen Ward & Ceceal Mosley. She attended Bartlett schools and was a member of St Stephen Methodist Church in Bartlett. She married Sherman Loving on Nov 25, 1949 in Quanah and joined Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Temple. Mrs Loving later joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Temple, serving with Mission II, senior choir, pastor's aid, and the food committee. She retired from Quarter Master Laundry on Fort Hood after more than 15 years. She was preceded in death by her husband and son. He was a member of Holland Zerne Masonic Lodge No. 615 and was a strong supporter of Holland baseball and softball. Mr Kelley was a member of First Baptist Church of Holland. He was preceded in deathy by one son, Ronnie Kelley, in 2003, and a grandson, Brandon Kelley, in 1994. Vernie C Marshall
Services for Vernie Chester Marshall, 86, of Bartlett were held at 10 AM Monday at First Baptist Church in Bartlett. Burial followed in Bartlett Cemetery. He was born Jan 11 1922 to Vernie Caldwell Marshall and Mary Hickerson Marshall in Little River. He graduated from Academy High School in 1940. He enrolled in Texas A&M, joining the Corp Cavalry. He served stateside and in teh Asiatic Pacific Theater 1943-46, then returned to Texas A&M to graduate in 1946. He earned his master's degree in education in 1957. He was an agriculture teacher at Bartlett High School for 38 years. Early in his career, he coached the girls' basketball team to a state championship in 1950. In 1961, he married Kathleen Johnson Wacker. After retiring from education, he served as a Bartlett school board trustee and was the excutive director of the Bartlett Housing Authority from 1986-1997. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1998, and a step-grandson. Survivors include three daughters, Shelley Aiken, Kim Belk, and Nancy Jackson; and 6 grandchildren. He died Tuesday January 29 in Bartlett. Edwin Kordes was born Jan 18, 1916 in Holland to Rudolph & Elsa Zenkner Kordes. A lifelong resident of Bell County and member of St John Lutheran Church, he married his sweetheart, Lula Mae Johnson on Oct 2, 1935. He was a farmer by trade, farming several hundred acres in Holland. After that, he worked as a school bus driver for Holland and Bartlett school districts. In addition, Mr Kordes worked at American Desk and Superior Chair Craft in Belton for many years, as well as the local grocery store in Holland. Mr Kordes was a caretaker for his grandmother, Alma Zenkner, his mother, Elsa Kordes, and aunt, Louise Zenkner, for many years. Leola Nora Friedrich Muehlhause
Leola Nora Friedrich Muehlhause, 100 years 3 months and 15 days old, was taken home by her Lord and Savior on January 26, 2008. She was born to Will & Nora (Stein) Friedrich on October 11, 1907 on their farm west of Bartlett in Bell County. Leola had two older brothers, Leslie Friedrich and Alvin Friedrich, and three younger siblings Herbert, Esabell and Willie, all of whom preceded her in death. Leola was baptized on December 8, 1907 by Rev F Grueber in Bartlett and confirmed in the same church on March 25, 1923 by Rev Theo Bogisch. Benjamin Muehlhause and Leola Friedrich were married on November 18, 1926 by Rev Bogisch at St John Lutheran Church. They celebrated their 75th anniversary before Ben's death on December 26, 2001. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was very active in school, church and community activities. Leola worked for Goebel Mfg Co in Smithville for two years while living there. Upon returning to Bartlett, she worked in the Bartlett Food Locker from August 1948 to 1953, when her brother Alvin sold it. She also worked at the Winchester Co in Holland. Before retiring, Ben & Leola manufactured stepladders for a number of years. She died Wed Jan 23 at her home. Eugenia Williams was born Dec 18, 1916 in Milam County to James Nealy and Carrie Nealy. She was educated in Milam County and worked in the area for many years as a nurse's aide. She was a member of Friendship Christian Church in Davilla, where she served as Sunday School teacher and board member until her health failed. She married K T Williams on June 14, 1936. She was preceded in death by her husband and grandchild. Ben Parnell
Ben Parnell of Holland, former banker in Bartlett, died Jan 14, 2008. He was born Jan 23, 1928 in Canadian, Texas. His parents were small ranchers in Lipscomb County where he lived for the first 26 years of his life. In 1962 he moved his family to Bartlett where he and an associate bought the First National Bank. Control of the bank was later sold; however, he remained as CEO until 1988. Ben love his home in the country where he spent many years farming and ranching. Ben was a Mason, an Elder of Grace Presbyterian Church in Temple, treasurer of the Salvation Army in Bartlett, Chairman of 3rd District Texas Bankers Association; and Chairman of the Bartlett Housing Authority. He was the author of one book, "The Carpetbaggers, America's Secret War in Europe" which grew from his interest and research surrounding the death of his brother in the crash of a Carpetbagger B-24. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Polly; one daughter, Jeanne Douglas and husband Gary of San Antonio; one son, Rob Parnell and wife Sara of Coppell; 4 grandchildren, Grant Parnell Douglas, Bradley Benson Parnell, Samuel Quinn Parnell, and Polly Anne Parnell; one sister, Louise King; and one brother, Sidney A Parnell, both of Canadian; and several nieces and nephews. He appreciated the many years of service by Pedro Aguayo and Emma Franco. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother who was killed in the 8th Air Force in World War II. Rita Hill Fischer, 68, of Bartlett came to receive into Glory, Jan 8 at home. She was born Oct 8, 1939 in Bartlett to C F & Bertie (Hargrove) Hill. She lived in Bartlett all her life. She graduated from business school in 1956 and married Ernie Fischer on Oct 26, 1957. Rita was devoted to her family and church. She worked at Need Music Co , several years at the City of Bartlett, served on the Bartlett School Board for 21 years and was president for 17 years. Rita had been selling real estate since 1985. She is survived by her loving husband, Ernie, of Bartlett; daughter Gina Laughlin & husband David of Louisville, KY; sons, James Fischer & wife Rosalind of Holland; Gary Fischer & wife Karen of Round Rock, Jon Fischer & wife Dawn of Coupland; 14 grandchildren; sister Marjorie Hayes of Conroe; brothers, Tommy Hill of Bartlett and Bobby Hill of Round Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother James Hill and sister-in-law Barbara Rozacky. Funeral service was held at St John Lutheran Church, Bartlett on Friday, Jan 11 at 10:00 AM. She died Sunday June 3 in Scott & White Hospital in Temple after fighting a brave fight with cancer. Martha Balusek was born July 23, 1935 to Louis and Saffronia (York) Widner in San Gabriel. She was a waitress/cook for 40 years at the Downtown Cafeteria. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Edward Hopson; a son, Donald Hopson; a daughter, Rieta Selby; a grandson, Matthew Selby; 3 sisters and 1 brother. Survivors include her husband, Dan Balusek of Holland; daughters, Margaret Cervenka & husband Frank of Thorndale, and Sheila Juranek of Holland; sons Douglas Hopson and James Hopson, both of Holland, Carl Hopson & wife Kitty of Georgetown, and Gary Hopson & wife Janet of Elljay, California; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Annie Byrd; and brothers James Widner, Robert Widner, Kenneth Andrews, Johnny Andrews, Clifford Andrews, and Julius Widner.

Heath Bice
Heath Bice, 28, of Bartlett died Monday July 16 in an accident. Funeral services were held Friday July 20 at SS Cyril & Methodius Recreation Hall in Granger with Rev Harold Cook officiating. Burial followed in Bartlett City Cemetery. Heath Bice was born Oct 5, 1978 in Taylor to James Sr and Diane (Davis) Bice. He married Casey Morrow of Granger on March 8, 2006. Heath worked as a test technician for TECO Westinghouse for several years. He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Robert E Bice. Mr Bunte was a farmer and rancher and was well-known for top quality peaches. He was a member of the Farm Bureau for over 50 years and was a member of the Val Verde Baptist Church. He was preceded in deathy by his parents and a son, Roger Bunte. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Cooper. Robert Daniel Gonzales
Robert Daniel Gonzales, 56, of Bartlett died Sunday Nov 18 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Celebration of Life Mass was at 10 AM Tuesday Nov 20 at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger with Msgr John Frizzell officiating. Burial followed in Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger. Robert Daniel Gonzales was born Jan 4, 1951 to Antonio & Juanita (Alaniz) Gonzales in Taylor, Texas. He was a member of SS Cyril & Methodius Church in Granger and helped to take care of the church for the past few years and was also a member of the Curillistas. He was preceded in death by his parents, two nephews and a sister-in-law. Robert is survived by a sister,Beatrice Perez of Granger; brothers Jesse Gonzales, Louis Gonzales, Raymond Gonzales, and Paul Gonzales, all of Bartlett; Juan Gonzales of Temple, and Tony Gonzales Jr of Granger. Clyde L Gordon
Funeral services for Clyde Lynn Gordon, 80, of Temple were held Monday Dec 17 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with Rev Randy Evans officiating. Clyde Lynn Gordon passed from this life on Wed Dec 12 in a Temple nursing home. Clyde was born on May 18, 1927 in Haskell County to Thomas Clyde Gordon and Mary Vida Welch Gordon, and relocated to Happy Union, Texas soon after. He was a U S Navy "Seabee" and served in the Pacific Theater until the end of World War II. He attended West Texas State University where he graduated with a BS degree. He married the former Betty Muncy on Nov 23, 1952 in Floydada, Texas. After moving to Lubbock in 1957, Clyde served as vice-president of the Citizens National and Texas Commerce Banks. He was also a longtime farmer and rural appraiser in the West Texas area. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Muncy Gordon of Holland;a son, Britt Lynn Gordon and his wife Kelly, two grandchildren, Kinsey and Kate Gordon, also of Holland; and a cousin, Elizabeth Maxson of Grapevine. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents.

Robert Weldon Hill
Robert Weldon Hill, 62, of Holland and formerly of Bartlett passed away Friday July 13 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Mr Hill was born September 15, 1944 in Harris County, Texas, the son of Rufus Buel "Jack" and Lanada W (Crumbley) Hill. He was the owner/operator of Hill Construction Company for over 30 years. Robert was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in Viet Nam on the USS Revere (APA-248) as a crane operator. He was a member of the Bartlett American Legion. Survivors include his mother, Lanada Hill of Bartlett; two sons, Randy Hill and wife Shelly of Bridge City, and David Hill & wife Denice of Holland; a sister, Lana Sue Hill of Bartlett; a brother, William Ray Hill & wife Joyce of Cameron; 10 grandchildren; and ex-wife Margaret Hill of McDade. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Richard. Visitation was held July 17 at Goodnight Funeral Home. Funeral services were on Wednesday, July 18, at 10 AM at Goodnight Funeral Home with Reverend David Cox officiating.

James Roy Holcomb Jr
James Roy Holcomb Jr, 87, went to be with the Lord on Jan 29, 2007 in Austin Texas, after living in Austin for 67 years. Funeral services were held at 1 PM Feb 1 at Westover Hills Church of Christ in Austin. Interment followed at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery. James Roy Holcomb Jr was born to Velma Webster and James Roy Holcomb Sr on April 29, 1919 in Bartlett. Roy attended Bartlett Public School and graduated in 1936. Roy proudly served in the United States Army from 1940-1945 in World War II and fought in Normandy, Northern France, and the Battle of the Bulge, being awarded the Bronze Star.

Doris Emilie (Balusek) Janke
Doris Emilie Balusek Janke of Houston was born March 20, 1936 in Holland and went to be with her Lord in Heaven after a long battle with cancer on May 6, 2007. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who loved fishing, gardening, and most of all, taking care of her family. She was preceded by her mother, Emilie Balusek; father and stepmother Henry and Millie Balusek; brother, Robert Balusek; sister, Evelyn Spann; and son-in-law Tiger Grothe. Doris is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Larry Janke Sr; sisters Mary Ann Lange and husband Clarence, Val Hegar and husband Bob; brother, Dan Balusek and wife Martha; children Jeanne Gutierrez and husband Victor, Debbie Morgan and husband Mike, Larry Janke Jr and wife Trish, Todd Janke and wife Rachel, and Karen Grothe; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service was held May 9 at Brookside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Brookside Memorial Park.

James Carroll Jones
Services for James Carroll Jones, 77, of Bartlett were held at 11:30 AM Friday November 2 in Houston National Cemetery in Houston. He died Sunday October 28 in a Temple hospital. James C Jones was born in Marlin to Isadore & Josie Jones. He was a school teacher and taught many years in the Bartlett school district, retiring in 1998. Mr Jones was educated in Calvert schools and married Gladys White on December 23, 1959 in Houston. They were married 47 years. Survivors include his wife, Gladys, of Bartlett; three daughters, Lula Jones Gabriel, Jean Jones Nelson and Jean Jones Smith, all of the Houston area; one brother, Arthur Lee Jones of Dallas; eight sisters, Mary Alice Thomas of Fort Worth, Helen Luster of Marlin, Erie Moten of Austin, and Thelma Jones, Mae Frances Walker, Nellie Cole, Laura Gipsun, and Bobbie Moore, all of Dallas; and one grandchild. Mrs Jones died March 20 in a Bartlett nursing home. She was born in Bartlett to Ivy & Millie Dursek Hunt and was a secretary for the Houston school district. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bartlett where she taught Sunday School and played piano for church services. She had lived in Bartlett the past 25 years. Survivors include her husband Willis Jones of Bartlett; one daughter, Rita Morgan of Georgetown; one brother, Ivy Dean Hunt of Flatonia; one sister, Amil Jane Simmons of LaPorte; and 3 grandchildren.

Jewel Jenette Karl
Funeral services for Jewel Jenette Karl, 78, of Granger were held March 1 at 10 AM at Goodnight Funeral Home in Bartlett with Rev David Steel officiating. Burial was in Bartlett City Cemetery. She died Feb 26 at Johns Community Hospital in Taylor after a short illness. Jewel Jenette Karl was born March 22, 1928 to William and Marie Hinze. She married Mike Karl on Sept 27, 1947 and lived most of her life in Bartlett. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Clyde Hinze; a sister, La Vern Crossland; and a son, William Karl. Survivors include her three sons, Aubrey Karl of Rockdale, Jerry Karl of Bartlett, and Douglas Karl of Killeen; three daughters, Martha Karl and Alice Griffith, both of Granger, and Brenda Ivey of Little River-Academy; a brother, Harold Hinze of Killeen; two adopted daughters, Jessie Stanley of Pflugerville and Barbara Knapek of Jarrell; 4 grandchildren; 6 steg-grandsons; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Elsa Kneten
Elsa Amanda Borchardt Kneten was born January 21, 1916 to Heinrich (Henry) and Amanda Roehl Borchardt on their farm near Westhoff, Texas. She was baptized May 7, 1916 and confirmed May 31, 1931 at St John Lutheran Church, Westhoff. As a young girl, she worked arduously alongside her parents and siblings on the family farm. She was a diligent student and an award-winning speller at DeWitt County school contests. On October 31, 1935 she married William A Kneten at St John Lutheran in Westhoff. After briefly residing in the Edna, Texas community, they moved to Corpus Christi where he worked as a carpenter in area construction and at the US Naval Air Station. For nearly 40 years, both were active members of First Lutheran Church. Elsa taught Sunday School at First Lutheran and particpated in congregational and statewide Women Missionary Society activities. She volunteered at the Lutheran Service Center, which ministered to US Navy personnel stationed at Corpus Christi during World War II. For over 25 years, she was a salesperson at Lichtenstein's Department Store whre she sold ladies hats. Following the death of her husband, Bill, on Jan 26, 1975, Elsa moved to Bartlett where she was a member of St John Lutheran Church. During the last years of her life, she was a resident of Will-O-Bell Nursing Home, where she died July 17, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers Otto, Herman, and Alfred Borchardt. Survivors include her son, Garland & his wife Dorothy of Bartlett; granddaughter Kristin Cline & her husband Matt of Springfield, Ohio; granddaughter Karen Kneten of Austin; and 2 great-granddaughters, Merrill Grace Cline and Rachel Karen Cline of Springfield. She is also survived by her two sisters, Martha Kneten of Tyler and Leona Riedesel of New Braunfels; and numerous nieces & nephews.

Ella Anna Kramer

Mrs Kramer died Thursday, November 15 in Bryan. She was born April 2, 1913 in Washington County to August Wagener and Ida Riechers Wagener. She married Harvey C Kramer on Sept 12, 1934. A longtime resident of Bartlett, she was a homemaker and an active member of St John Lutheran Church in Bartlett. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, her parents, two sisters, and two brothers. Survivors are one brother, Willie Wagener of Cuero; and one sister, Esther Wenske of San Antonio. Shelia was married to Tommy Krueger of Granger in 1954 and was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Bartlett. She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Danny Reese. Shelia is survived by her husband, Tommy Krueger of Schwertner; a daughter, Lana Krueger-Reese and husband Mark Lidell of Schwertner; son, Scott Krueger; brother, Leroy Schwertner; 5 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.

Douglas Houston "Jack" Lampley
Douglas Houston "Jack" Lampley, 84, passed away March 11 at the Veteran's Hospital in Temple Texas. He married his true love, Ruby Irene Holcomb of Bartlett (a school teacher for 42 years) on July 18, 1942 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. Jack was born to James Isaac & Tressie Ann (Vines) Lampley in Goober Hill, near Joaquin, Texas on May 20, 1922, the youngest of 11 children. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Irene, on Feb 23, 1998; his mother and father; and all 10 of his siblings. The Lampley family can be traced back to the year 1616 in London, England. Jack entered the Army on Nov 11, 1939 and served in Ireland, England, France, Belgium, Germany, and Czechoslovakia. Jack was awarded the ETO Ribbon with 5 battle stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and the American Defense Ribbon. Jack is survived by his son, James Douglas Lampley and wife Barbara of Austin; his grandson, Tyler James Lampley and wife Jillian of Austin, and numerous nieces and nephews. A military funeral was held at Bartlett Cemetery on Saturday March 17 at 11:00 AM. Condra Funera Home was in charge.

Beatrice Stabeno "Dolly" Latham
A memorial service for Beatrice Stabeno "Dolly" Latham, 79 of Dallas and formerly of Bartlett, was held June 13 at Christ Lutheran Church in Dallas. She died June 8, 2007 in Dallas. Dolly graduated from Holland High School and after graduating, met the man of her dreams, Thomas Jean Latham. They were married March 17, 1946 in the First Christian Church in Temple by Rev Noel Keith. To this happy couple were born Ronald Jean Latham and Tommy Irene Latham Anderson. They moved to their ranch where they lived for 17 years. After a short stay in Bastrop, living in the pines, they moved to Dallas in 1970, where Tommy and Dolly began assisting their son Ron with his company, Latham Roofing. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Latham; her parents, Edward & Frieda Stabeno; one grandson, Obe Tom Anderson; four brothers, Walter F Stabeno, Monroe O Stabeno, E C Stabeno Jr, and Logan W Stabeno; and one sister, Gertrude Stabeno Janke. Survivors include her son, Ronald J Latham; her daughter, Tommy I Latham Anderson; daughter-in-law Rosemary Bert Latham; grandson Ryan Jean Latham and Jesse E Anderson; granddaughter, Annalee Irene Anderson; and one brother, Milton R Stabeno. Robert E Lawton
Services for Robert E "Bobby" Lawton, 56, of Temple and formerly of Bartlett were held Jan 2 at Heartfield Funeral Home in Belton with Rev Rex Tilly officiating. Burial was in Greathouse Cemetery. He died Thurs Dec 28 at his home. He was born to Eugene Thomas and Emmy E Ingram Lawton in Muncie, Indiana. He attended school in Bartlett and later joined the Marine Corps. He was a member of the 1st Marine Division, 3rd Amtrack Battalion, and attained rank of Corporal. He was a veteran of Vietnam. He later graduated from Commonwealth College of Science and worked as a licensed funeral director until 1994. He then went to work for the Temple Post Office as a letter carrier, retiring in Dec 2003. He married Carolyn Mayes on Dec 8, 1995 in Gatesville. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Bartlett. Survivors are his wife of Temple; his mother of Bartlett; brothers Tom Lawton of The Groves, Allen Lawton of Temple, and Randy Lawton of Friendswood.

Ira F Lindemann
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ira F Lindemann, 86, of Temple was held Tuesday, July 17 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Temple with Rev Ranjan Cletus officiating. Burial was at St Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor. Rosary was recited July 16 at Harper Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. He died Saturday July 14 in a Temple nursing home. Ira F Lindemann was born in Holland to Herbert E and Tony Frederick Lindemann. He was a pharmacist at Marek Pharmacy, and married Val H Mikeska on July 16, 1956. They were married more than 50 years. Lindemann graduated from the University of Texas and served in the medical corps during World War II, and was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church in Temple. Survivors include his wife of Temple; and two brothers, Franklin Lindemann of Magnolia and Jimmy Lindemann of Spring.

Scotty McGinnis
Graveside services with military honors for Lawrence Calvert "Scotty" McGinnis, 85, of Austin and formerly of Bartlett were held Tuesday, Aug 14 at Bartlett City Cemetery with Dr Steven R Rottgers officiating. He died August 11. Mr McGinnis was born in Bartlett to Scott Wilbur and Avia Calvert McGinnis. He had lived in Austin more than 60 years. Survivors include one son, Mike McGinnis; two daughters, Tommye Alan Prater and Kathleen Bailey; on brother, Hollis McGinnis; one sister, Betty Masur; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Margie "Juanita" Hempel Moseley
Margie "Juanita" Hempel Moseley of Elgin went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on March 3 at the age of 78. Juanita was born May 9, 1928 in Bartlett to Louis Arthur and Verlie Madden Hempel. After graduating from Bartlett High School, she worked at Boyd's Drug Store for 5 years before marrying Tommy J Moseley, also of Bartlett. They were married October 30, 1949 at First Baptist Church in Bartlett. After living in different areas of Central Texas, they settled in Elgin in 1957. She worked for the Department of Human Resources for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ruth Evelyn Messer; a brother, Louis Hempel; and her husband, Tommy. Survivors are a daughter, Dana Sundbeck of Bulverde; a son Larry Moseley of Elgin; a son Jay Moseley of Fort Worth; and 3 grandchildren.

Tommy Jack Moseley
Services for Tommy Jack Moseley, 86, of Elgin were held Feb 12 at First Baptist Church in Elgin with Pastor Joe Caldwell officiating. Interment followed at the Bartlett City Cemetery. He died Feb 8. Tommy Jack Moseley was born March 23, 1920 to Boykin and Sybil Nelson Moseley in McGregor. He served in the military from 1940 to 1945 and in the Army Medical Corps for two and a half years in New Guinea and the Phillippines. Mr Moseley married Marie Juanita Hempel on October 30, 1949 at the First Baptist Church in Bartlett. In 1956 he became a Texas Highway Patrolman and was stationed in LaGrange for one year before moving to Elgin. He retired in 1980 and served as Sheriff of Bastrop County from 1981 to 1984, and Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Bastrop County for 12 years. Survivors include his wife, Juanita; his daughter Dana Sundbeck of Bulverde; his son Larry Moseley of Elgin; his son Jay Moseley of Fort Worth; and grandchildren Keelah of Bulverde, Carson of Elgin, and Christopher of Pflugerville. Mr Pavlasek was a member of the SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, the SPJST, and Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Annie Gorubec, Mary Kurecka, and Frances Dickerson; and two brothers, Laddie Pavlasek and Joe Pavlasek. William Edward Peacock
William Edward Peacock, 76, passed away Thursday in College Station, Texas from a short illness with leukemia. He was born in Bartlett, Texas 10/06/30 to Harley and Ardie Mae Peacock. He was a retired truck driver. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, a son, grandson and his parents. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tehama and James Storey of Navasota; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Linnie Peacock of Navasota; grandchildren, Bryan Storey of College Station, Kathy Seaton of Bryan, Tricia Sebesta of Snook, LeeAnn Peacock of Navasota, four great-grandchildren, Christopher, John and Kimberly Wheeler of Snook, and Hannah Seaton of Bryan; a sister, Gloria Karkoska of Millican, brother, Clifton Peacock, of Thorndale. A memorial service will be held at Madeley Chapel in Navasota Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.

Selma Probst
Services for Selma Adele Probst, 101, of New Braunfels and formerly of Bartlett were held at 10:30 AM Monday Feb 12 at St John Lutheran Church in Bartlett with Rev Gary Lange and Rev Mike Swink officiating. Burial was in St John Cemetery. She died Feb 9 in a New Braunfels nursing home. Selma Adele Probst was born in Pflugerville to Ernest Pfluger and Emma Kruger Pfluger. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev Walter C Probst, and a daughter, Joyce Frederick.

Elizabeth Ramsey
Elizabeth Ramsey, 83, of Bartlett died Thursday Nov 15 in a Temple nursing home. Funeral services were Monday Nov 19 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Dr Rodney Kruse officiating. Burial followed in Bartlett City Cemetery. Miss Ramsey was born Nov 19, 1923 in Bartlett to Preston & Josephine Hunt Ramsey. She was a graduate of Bartlett High School and worked all her life on the family farm. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Bartlett. Survivors include one sister, Katherine Ramsey of Temple, and a dear friend, Linda Weber.

Mary Jo Ramsey
Services for Mary Jo Ramsey, 81, of Bartlett were held at 2 PM Monday Dec 31 at St John Lutheran Church in Bartlett with Rev Michael Swink officiating. Burial was in Bartlett City Cemetery. Mrs Ramsey died Friday in a Bartlett nursing home. She was born in McDade to James Monroe Powers & Cornelia Fisk Wilson. She married Ellis Ramsey Sr on May 28, 1943. They were married for 64 years. She was employed by Texas Department of Transportation as an office manager for 30 years. She is a lifelong resident of Bartlett and attended St John Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Woman's Wednesday Club and the Bell County Republicans. Survivors are her husband; two sons, Ellis Ramsey Jr of Dallas and Robert Ramsey of Montgomery, Alabama; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St John Lutheran Church, Bartlett Public Library, Alzheimer's Association, or Odyssey Hospice.

Ramah Lorraine Schleede
Services for Ramah Lorraine Schleede were held Friday Oct 26 at Heartfield Funeral Home Chapel in Belton. She died Tuesday, October 23. Ramah Lorraine Schleede was born May 25, 1926 in Salado to Thomas F and Lula Wood McGuyer. She graduated from Salado High School and married her high school sweetheart, William R (Bill) Schleede on October 26, 1944. They lived in the Bell County area for over 63 years. Ramah was a homemaker and worked at Britt's Drug Store in Belton for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bartlett. She was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Dalton McGuyer. Survivors include her husband, Bill of Salado; daughters, Janis Allen of Temple and Cindy Clifton & husband Will of Salado; granddaughter Heather Hildebrand & husband Lyle of Zorn; grandson Ryon Clifton of Stephenville; step-grandson Mark Clifton & wife Linda of Dallas; step-granddaughter, Stacy Sawyer & husband John of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Kamryn, Karli, and Chase of Zorn, and Shelby & Matthew of Dallas; her sister, Frankie Parker & husband J T of Belton; brothers, Glenn Curtis McGuyer & wife Mildred of Reno, Nevada, and Maynard H (Buddy) McGuyer & wife Pat of Fort Worth; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Stanley Adolph Schwertner
Stanley Adolph Schwertner, 90, rancher, educator, artist, beloved husband, father and "Papa" passed peacefully from this world surrouned by the lover of his entire family on Jan 23, 2007 in Bartlett. Born Aug 28, 1916 in Schwertner to John B and Irene Schwertner, he spent his childhood wrapped in the security of the large pioneering Schwertner family and, with his many cousins, whiled away carefree days on the banks of the Donahue Creek. After graduation from Bartlett High School, Mr Schwertner graduated in 1937 from Southwest Texas State Teachers' College with a BS in education. Blessed with a beautiful tenor voice honed while entertaining pickers in the cotton fields to avoid actually picking cotton himself, he treasured his days singing with and often directing the SWTSC chorale group. Following his first teaching stint at Liberty Hill, at the outset of World War II, Schwertner volunteered for the US Army Air Corp. His next life adventure took him to the border of Texas and Mexico, where a position as a Border Patrolman led to a lifelong love affair with the Mexican culture. Back in Central Texas and teaching at Lampasas High School, Mr Schwertner met and married Melba Yeary on Oct 4, 1947 at First Methodist Church with Rev George McCrary officiating. In 1949 Mr Schwertner earned his Master's Degree at Sul Ross State in Alpine, and in 1951 he moved his family, which now included a son and daughter, back home onto his ranch west of Schwertner, where he resided until two weeks prior to his death. From 1951 to 1963 Mr Schwertner taught English, speech, Spanish, and journalism at Bartlett High School. Several one-act plays directed by Mr Schwertner competed at the state level. Following post-graduate studies at Southwest Texas, Schwertner received his guidance couseling certification and served as the Bell County Cooperative Guidance Counselor until his retirement from education on Jan 1, 1977. Following his retirement, Mr Schwertner eagerly pursued new life challenges. From 1978 to 1993 he served on the Youth Activies Board of the Order of the Sons of Hermann, and was instrumental in the construction of the Hilltop Boys' Camp in Comfort. Deciding to pursue a lifelong yen to paint, Mr Schwertner soon became a dedicated and talented artist, enjoying his membership in the Buchanan Dam Arts and Crafts Society in Buchanan Dam, Texas. Mr Schwertner is survived by his wife of 59 years, Melba, of Schwertner; son John Schwertner of Schwertner; daughter Lisa Kretzschmar of Georgetown; grandson John Karl Kretzschmar of College Station; granddaughter Genevieve Irene Schwertner of Austin, and socres of loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandchild Sean Christopher Schwetner. Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church in Bartlett Jan 26. Burial was in Bartlett City Cemetery.

Charles Edward Smith
Services for Charles Edward Smith Sr, 65, of Bartlett, were held Jan 20 at Mt Ararat Missionary Baptist Church in Bartlett with Rev Daniel Blane officiating. Burial was in Bartlett City Cemetery. He died Thursday Jan 11 at his residence. Charles Edward Smith Sr was born August 30, 1941 in Robstown to Stafford Fanner and Velma Scott. He was a member of Mt Ararat Baptist Church in Bartlett. Mr Smith worked for Ace Hardware (Curtis Lumber) Co of Killeen for 36 years. He married Alice Crathers in 1961. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Alice Smith, of Bartlett; four sons, Anthony Smith, Michael Smith, and Kenneth Smith Sr of Bartlett, and Charles Smith Jr of Alvin; two brothers, Curtis Scott of Bartlett and Ralph Stanley Smith Sr of Temple; four sisters, Thelma Howard of Temple, Climmi Mathis of Temple, Stephanie Harris of San Angelo, and Doris Smith of Brenham; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Brandford/Dawson Funeral Home of Temple was in charge of arrangements.

Leola E Grimm Steglich
Leola E Grimm Steglich went to be with the Lord on July 21, 2007. She was born in Bell County on July 7, 1916 to Edna & Robert Grimm. In 1939, she married Oswin Robert Steglich. In 1969, Leola & Oswin made their home in Safford, Texas. Leola was preceded in death by her husband Oswin after 54 years of marriage. She is survived by her son, Lenard Oswin Steglich; her daughter, Laneta Carolyn McDonald; grandchildren Stacy Steglich, Randall Kalisek, and Rachel Zerino; and great-grandchildren Ashely Kalisek and Oswin Zetino. Funeral services were 9:30 AM July 26 at Faith Lutheran Church in Sugar Land. A service was also held at St John Lutheran Church in Bartlett at 4 PM with interment following at St John's Cemetery. Settegast-Kopf of Sugar Creek was in charge of arrangements.

Joe Pershing Sumbera Sr
Graveside services for Joe Pershing Sumbera Sr, 87, of Holland, were held at 2 PM Saturday, June 23, in Holland Cemetery with Rev Victor Pena officiating. He died Thursday June 21 in a Taylor hospital. Joe Sumbera Sr was born Oct 21, 1919 in Holland to John Sumbera and Annie Poncik Sumbera. He worked for 40 years as a dock supervisor for Union Carbide and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army. Mr Sumbera married Marjorie L Sumbera on November 2, 1945. He was a member of the SPJST Lodge in Holland and Holland United Methodist Church. Mr Sumbera had lived in Holland the last 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, on March 3, 2002; and a brother, William "Sonny" Sumbera. Survivors include his two sons, Douglas Sumbera and wife Wendy of Cedar Park; and Joe P Sumbera Jr and wife Trish of San Marcos; one brother, John Sumbera of Holland; three sisters, Alice Lee of Temple, Mary Parkhill of Holland, and Celestine Haschke of Cleburne; two grandchildren, Alvica Sumbera & husband Daniel Aguilar, and Hana Sumbera; and 3 great-grandchildren, Sean, Alexis, and Danila Aguilar. Helen Volney
Services for Helen Volney, 90, of Temple and formerly of Granger, were August 15 at Granger Brethren Church with Dr Mark Labha officating. Burial was in Granger Brethren Cemetery. She died Sunday, August 12 in a Temple nursing home. Helen Volney was born Aug 31, 1917 in Granger to August Vitek & Tracy Stefka Vitek. She married Daniel Volney Sr in 1944. Mrs Volney was a member of Granger Brethren Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on July 23, 1969; a daughter, Carol Jones; and a son, Johnny Michael Volney. Survivors include her daughter, Janie Lavender of Temple; sons, Daniel Volney Jr and Jim Volney of Temple; a son-in-law, Gayle Jones of Austin; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Ervin Walker Sr
Services for Ervin Walker Sr, 83, of Bartlett were held Friday, July 13 at Goodnight Funeral Home in Bartlett with Rev H L Benford officiating. Burial was in Bartlett City Cemetery. He died Thursday, July 5 in a Bartlett nursing home. Ervin Walker Sr was born in Round Top to Leslie & Emma Walker. He attended school in Round Top and later moved to Bartlett. Mr Walker was a member of Kelso Baptist Church (Good Hope Baptist Church). He married Algree Scott in 1948. He later moved to Houston and married Katherine Shepherd in the late 1960s. Mr Walker worked for Houston Steel Co until his retirement. Survivors include two sons, Ervin Walker Jr of Houston, and Ray Earl Walker of Dallas; three brothers, Elvis Walker Sr of Temple, Willie Walker of St Louis, and Leslie Walker Jr of Bartlett; five sisters, Johnnie Mae Anderson of Bartlett, Dorothy Ford of Levelland, Charles Etta Luckey of Belton, Earnestine Clark of Belton, and Ruthie McNeece of Belton; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Ellis Barton Ware
Ellis Barton Ware, 91, of Bartlett died Friday April 27 at a Bartlett nursing home. Services will be at 2 PM Monday at Goodnight Funeral Home in Bartlett with minister Robert Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Bartlett City Cemetery. Mr Ware was born in Bartlett to Ellis Allen Ware and La Vina Ellen Ramsey. He was a farmer. He had lived all his life in Bartlett and was a member of the Church of Christ. He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Agnes Wiederspahn on Feb 8, 1936. He served on the Bartlett School Board and the Board of Directors of Vintage Bank in Bartlett. Survivors include his wife of 71 years of Bartlett; one son, William E Ware of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas; three daughters, Carol E Jean White of Seabrook, Linda J Smith of Holland, and Sara A Harrison of Austin; and 6 grandchildren.

Jaydene Cummings White
Services for Jaydene Cummings White, 70, of Bartlett were held Feb 21 at 10 AM at Goodnight Funeral Home in Bartlett with Rev Jack Riley officiating. Burial followed in Bartlett City Cemetery. Jaydene died in her Bartlett home on Feb 17. Just three weeks ago, she was diagnosed as having congestive heart failure. A longtime diabetic, she came home to Bartlett, and at 3 PM, her heart slowly gave out while in the company of a loving, grieving family. She was born in Sharp on Sept 4, 1936. She attended Sharp and Bartlett schools, graduating from Bartlett High School in 1954. She was a homemaker and operated a home daycare facility in Bartlett for several years. Jaydene married Arthur White of New Orleans on August 23, 1954, and together they have three children: Clayton, Pamela Jo, and Mark. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence K Cummings, and her mother, Lillie Cummings, both of Bartlett; and a sister, Francis Zigalo, and nephew, Doyle Lane Zigalo, both of Taylor. Survivors include her husband, Arthur White of Bartlett; sons Mark White (and wife Wendy) of Bartlett and Clayton White of Killeen; and daughter Pamela Hightower of Bartlett. Also surviving are three sisters, Betty Jo Freeman of Troy, Billy Lu Wood (and husband Gary) of Little River-Academy, and Sharon Kaderka (and husband Leonard of Taylor); six grandchildren, Rosemary Cooper (and husband Jim), Joshua Hightower, William Hightower, Krystal White, Sarah White, and Patrick White, all of Bartlett; 4 great-grandchildren. Goodnight Funeral Home was in charge.
Mike Williams
Mike Williams, 56, of Bartlett, passed away on Thursday November 1. Mike was a lifelong resident of Bartlett. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a Mason, former president of the Chamber of Commerce, and he enjoyed photography. He worked as city manager in Bartlett for over 25 years. Mike was born on March 1, 1951 in Taylor to Billy & Helen Williams. On October 26, 1974 Mike married Patricia Bohac of Granger at the United Methodist Church of Salado. They were happily married over 30 years until his wife passed away on November 5, 2004. Mike is survived by his daughter, Michelle Cargill and her husband Justin of Bartlett; his sister, Jane Bartlett, and her husband Gary of Salado; his grandson, Colton Cargill of Bartlett; his niece and nephew, Lacey & Beau Bartlett of Bartlett; his nephew Travis Williams and his wife Jennifer of Houston. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Billy & Helen Williams; his wife, Patricia Williams; and his brother, Billy Wayne Williams. Funeral services were Tuesday November 6 at Goodnight Memorial Chapel in Bartlett with Pastor Lianne Turner officiating. Interment followed in the Bartlett City Cemetery.
